Since 1979, North Shore Diabetes and Endocrine Associates has offered individuals the finest in comprehensive, quality healthcare. Our provider staff currently consists of five Board Certified Endocrinologists, 2 Podiatrists, a Physician's Assistant, an ADA Certified Diabetes Nurse Educator and an ADA Certified Nutritionist. In addition, a Neurologist and a Cardiologist, both Board Certified, are available weekly for consultation and diagnostic testing.
The large patient population we serve consists of individuals with Diabetes and Endocrine disorders such as thyroid conditions and disorders of the pituitary and adrenal glands. Our providers use a "Team Approach" to diagnose and treat the problems and complications that can arise from these conditions including Hypertension, Lipid disorders, Neuropathy (nerve damage), and Nephropathy (kidney disease).
To enable each patient to fully participate in achieving treatment goals, our outstanding support staff provides ongoing patient education services consisting of individual and group counseling sessions.
North Shore Diabetes and Endocrine Associates was the first private practice in New York State to be recognized as a self-management education center by the American Diabetes Association. We have maintained this recognition through the ADA's periodic recertification process, which involves ongoing updates to our education materials and a review of our procedures.
Our Director of Research, Dr. Kenneth Hershon, is a noted and respected Principal Investigator, and through his and our Research staffs' efforts we are also able to offer our patients with Diabetes and other conditions the opportunity to participate in research protocols. These clinical trials are sponsored by pharmaceutical companies with the aim of improving the diagnosis and treatment of disease.
